Hey all,

Just fitting a new tap to this sink and the cheap work top is shot behind the fitting where water has been pooling.

Not in a position to rip out and replace right now so looking for a fix.

I need to re-silicone the sink and where the worktop meets the back wall but the surface itself is a bit swollen and flaking so no chance of a watertight finish.

What are my options? Some form of clear resin along the surface prior to silicone? A strip of something? (Not keen), any better solutions?

Pics looks ok. Cant you stick a some sort of threshold strip on top and then silicone it round the edges, should work ok.

Photo's ok now chap. I know you said you're not keen on a strip of something, but I reckon something like this should be a cheap & effective repair until you can replace the worktop:

Maybe if you only run a strip the length of the sink?

ETA It would stick on ok with contact adhesive, bead of silicone along the tiles to finish it off?

Hi Bomma!

Cheers for the suggestion, could work nicely. Are those strips not porous though? ie untreated
