what can cause battery light showing on the dashboard permanently and discharging the battery......for freelander 2 3.2...

Usually indicates a failed diode in the alternator. I don't know whether yours is ECU controlled though.

we have replaced a new alternator and still behave the same and its ECU controlled....

halo! my freelander 2 chasis no. SALFA23A27H006636 ,when i start the engine it runs for a while then the battery light comes on and shows permanently on the dashboard .I have replaced a new allternator but still it behave the same way .I am away from the dealer ,what do you think could be the problem and possible solution...

First of all I would check earthing strap from battery to chassis. Plus if there are any other earths, eg to block or starter motor.

One thing I have found with mine, especially if the battery is s bit low, lots of short runs/ lots of electrical use, is to let the system go through all the checks before pressing the starter. Soine is an auto, push in key, wait a few seconds, push the start button without pressing brake, let it go through checks, then press brake and start button again.

To be fair I can get in, shove the key in, hit brake and start button all as fast as possible, it will start and not have problems, but every so often it has a brain fade and something stupid flags up due to a variation in voltage.

Agree with above about making sure all updates are done.
