So how do they propose to police it? will there be NPR cameras everywhere? will they be able to identify the age of every non French registered car?
If I drive through Paris in my UK registered 1996 Merc` SL320 will I get pulled?
Mind you after the referendum result I may get pulled anywhere in France??

Cameras police emission zones in Germany and the congestion charge zone in London; why not in Paris too?

Apparently, it's not as simple! Do not assume your 30+ year old other than a French specially registered car is automatically exempt.

To be exempt, you need a 'Carte Gris de Collection' which applies to a French domestic registration. They may not fine anyone yet, or they may target les Rosbifs. Parce que ils peuvent...

So, a 1 litre Renault 5 is not allowed on environmental grounds, but a 10 year old petrol Range Rover is. Genius!

Same as the Germans, probably. If you don't have the right sticker in your windscreen you're in breach and fined if seen.

The Range Rover will pump out carbon dioxide and just about nothing else, the R5 will pump out less CO2 but more CO as well as hydrocarbons and other highly polluting substances.

Engine size does not equate to pollutant emissions.

So any car registered between 19 and 30 years is not allowed in, everything else is fine. I wonder how many cars are actually around from that time? I bet it's not that many.
