Seem to have sold out of the 12000 Yorkshire wool so uprated to the 14000 Angora one. Seemingly everybody is buying them because they are running out. Only Problem is that it's up to 8 weeks delivery.

Glad I stumbled across this as I want to get a new bed.

I've been looking at mattressman and this Hypnos https://www.mattressman.co.uk/mattresses/hypnos/69...

I'm guessing this is a step above the normal premier inn type?

Plus point from these people is I can go and test one out as they have a local store. But no chance of sending back if we don't like it.
I've got two lower damaged discs and when staying in hotels, beds which I'd perceive as soft have really been a good sleep. Not sure about long term though.

Those john Ryan beds look lovely but I must admit I'm put off by not being able to try first, I've got no clue on how soft soft is iykwim. There's also a plethora of different models so a bit confusing tbh.

Personally I'm going to by buying a John Ryan mattress soon. The general consensus seem to be to call them and they'll be able to advise what will suit you best based on your weight, how you sleep (front/side/back), and whether you prefer a firmer or softer bed. Then once it arrives you've got 60 nights to change your mind.

Was looking at the Premier Inn one but it's one sided isn't it?

The low price and spring count suggest it's not going to be the best.

Only you can decide.

What sort of bed base do you have OP, is it a sprung edge or a platform top?

Platform top BN. It's an Ottoman base.

We did order the Eve but that'll be going back. Nothing we can find so far is remotely soft enough.

Managed to get into a Premier Inn last night for 10 mins, tried the Hypnos. It was ok, but not wow, amazing. That's disappointing. Was on the verge of pulling the trigger on that.

Has anyone tried eve mattresses? evemattress.co.uk Sure, that's a lot of nice bright fancy marketing, but 100 days to return it with no quibble for a full refund seems like quite an offer? Pretty much nothing to lose. What say you fine somniacs of PH?
We have a superking Eve - it's very comfortable (our old one was crap though)
The only thing with memory foam is that they are very warm as there isn't as much airflow as a sprung mattress - but the Eve ones are pretty much risk free with 100 day return guarantee as you say.

You should give them a try - I've not had a bad nights sleep on it yet

As above - we did order it, Superking, but it's too firm. From the (significant) number of mattresses we've now tried, it's become obvious we need a "soft". Closest we've come so far was in Benson's of all places, but we weren't 100% convinced, and we don't want to buy anything else until we are frown

Just to chime in.

We've just ordered a Kaymed Elation. Pocket sprung with memory foam.

Spend days trawling dreams, john lewis, local stores and to be honest, the Kaymed was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality. Price wise it was expensive but we 'got a deal'... as we were ordering a headboard and divan base.

That said, it's a very difficult thing to purchase, as in the shop you're only ever going to get 10-15 minutes to lay on it. Couple that with being fully clothed and in the middle of the day, it's a different experience from the one you'll have when the mattress is in operation.

My Dads friend runs a mattress firm in Yorkshire. Got our pocket sprung one for cost. RRP are £1300, paid £350.

You really need to try a few before paying top dollar again. There really is a massive mark up on beds so the SH value on a mattress is next to nothing.

We went for the cheaper, less pocket one in the end as it was more comfortable for us.

Next time I try out a mattress in the shop in going to do it properly and really try to recreate my bedtime routine. I'm going to get the wife to lay next to me and after 30mins just as I'm about to fall asleep I'll get her to start nagging me about something I might have said to her three weeks ago that I can't even recall.

ErgoFlex mattress are great, they are a cheap Tempur mattress without the name.

Although I need to find one now that is 50/50 as OH likes a firmer mattress than myself, either that or 2 mattress together in the place of a super king mattress.

time for a thread resurrection!

We are still blathering about undecided on replacement mattress....we have tried a few, decided we prefer the firm over a medium (defo not soft).

Found a couple we felt we could go with - a Hypnos Premier Ortho Elite (about £1K), and a 'flat pack' "Health Sleep" memory foam one (less than half that, very different type, but we have slept well elsewhere on one of that style).

....but then spotted a http://www.costco.co.uk/view/p/dormeo-options-hybr... - stupidly cheap for a superking, and yet the reviews I read there (& on very) are for the most part excellent.

Anyone ever tried (or got) a Dormeo Hybrid mattress?
Very tempting to try....not sure on the Costco returns policy for mattresses (I will ask them).
thanks

Vi Spring Earl Supreme. Kingsize, very heavy, very deep, quite expensive.
Had it for 11years and it remains awesome. Quite hard, which I wanted.

We have the most expensive Ikea one. Not sure of name but it's £300 at most. I am a big old unit (ex tight head prop) but my wife is petite so we struggled to find one we both liked. This is our second in about 15 years and it is brilliant. I'm asleep within about a minute and wake without any aches.

You can get them in 6'6 length too which is what attracted us as otherwise my ankles dangle!

Yep, had mine about a year now. Like you have tried all sorts over the years(expensive/middle of the range)and have never been completely happy with any of them. Took a chance with the Dormeo as it was cheap and an inexpensive way as to whether the heat problem associated with these types of mattresses would be a problem.

Best thing I ever did as I now sleep like the proverbial log cloud9 having said that, have always used a feather topper so still don't know if without the topper a problem there would be.

ETA: Have just visited Costco as was thinking of ordering another mattress for my lodger and noticed that the hybrid in your link is not quite the same as mine; yours being memory with pocket springs - mine being memory with a base layer of breathable Ecocell foam--> Clicky Sorry for the misunderstanding.
