This is what we use:

Don't know how big your flock is - we have 5 and have the smallest enclosure these guys offer. Seen foxy in the garden, so I know he/she is about, but we've not lost any chucks.

BTW, you can get a converter to hook to mains if you're close enough to a source, but if it's a battery you want, you need a leisure battery, not a car battery.
