it's money well spent, especially when I tell them what she does.

Hides the evidence of Friday night before Saturday's antics!

We have a cleaner and pay £10 and hour direct. She does three hours a week and we rotate what she does depending on what's needed that week, changing sheets, ironing, deep cleaning certain rooms, quick once over everywhere, etc.

Well worth the money. Yes the wife could do it but she'd spend all her time cleaning and we'd rather be doing something else.

Had the cleaner for a few years now, previous one through an agency was a useless and lazy cow and more expensive, she lasted two weeks.

We're in Yorkshire

My mum has 2 cleaners one who works 10am - 4pm daily and another who does a Mon & Friday. When ever I go round and ask my mum what's she's being doing all day she says Cleaning!

I have no idea what they must do all day if my mum still needs to be doing cleaning especially when there are only 3 people in the house!

Ours is great. £9 per hour on a Friday for 3 hours so the house is nice for the weekend.

The only bit I don't like is the manic pre-cleaner tidy-up on Thursday night enforced by my wife.

Yep - 2 hours a week, £11 per hour in SW London area - mixed feelings about them generally - we have a good one now, but we have had some REALLY thick people before - one left the back door wide open, another would constantly forget to double lock the front door, and another after taking our keys decided not to ever turn up, or return the keys...

You have to remember these people generally are not really that reliable, much like builders for me, they need to be monitored as if left to their own devices things will be left, idiotic behaviour will be exhibited, and eventually something very drastic could happen, such as my two cats not coming back when we realised the back door was wide open the whole day.

It's not huge , 6 bedrooms, little gym / sauna area and normal size garden. TBH I think they spend more time sitting talking crap to each other

Did have and planning on getting another. Will probably get about 3 hours a week. I think we paid about £10 an hour to the agency who basically paid the cleaner minimum wage ,it was a bit of a funny arrangement but it doesnt half make life easier to come home to a clean house on a Friday night with the weekend ahead and no rubbish cleaning jobs to do.

I did about a year of using "handy" but in the end got so fked off with the constant chopping and changing of cleaners and now have a nice polish girl via "housekee" who comes Monday, 4 hours, has a key and makes the place spotless, all washing ironing folding putting away.

Think I pay £12ph

We do. 4 hours a week at 12 an hour. I asked for recommendations on local site and amazed the number of people who said they would be interested for a bit of pin money. So potentially employing someone with all the hassle that would involve.

11 p/h 3-5 hours a week depending on how much washing / ironing is required. She is wonderful and cleans circa 5 houses on our street.

I'd have thought most on pistonheads would let their butler sort out the cleaning staff for their mansions .
