Just got a quote in for providing the structural cals for my extension and almost fell off my chair!

The quote is £1,200+VAT.

This is for approx 6 steel beams inside the property (remodelling and open planning a victorian house!)

Does this seem reasonable?

Thanks

I've had a few firms quote for mine which range from £450+vat to £2100+vat!!!!

It's not a big job in terms of size but does have some complex elements as it's tying into and existing extension.

The "cheap" one is a local guy that works for a consultancy and does guvvie jobs. I'm using him but my god he's not very good at getting back to me with some kind of idea when I'll get anything useful back, very frustrating as it's holding up the whole process.

I've just had some done myself and it cost me £420 for two calculations (one to take chimney breast out and one to take kitchen wall out).

This is in West Yorkshire and a guy who works on his own.

Can you pm me his details, just in case my guy doesn't deliver the goods.
