It looks a pretty crappy place to be honest. The kitchen being in the conservatory is a crap idea as well. I wouldn't live there. No offence op, it just isn't very nice and is too small to make nice in my opinion.

I'd hate to hear what you all must think of my current house...

Is that a mirror on the ceiling in the lounge?

I actually think it is a quite attractive and clean looking frontage, but if the wife hates it it is just a big no.

The interior really needs a lot of work and as other have said, if that is not affordable right now and the wife doesn't like it as it is it doesn't make any sense. Also with a growing child there doesn't appear to be much in the way of garden space.

I don't know the geography of the area but this appears to be nearby:

It is in your current price band and has been renovated to what looks like a very high standard. It also has more room and space and a very child friendly garden which I can assure you will prove very welcome as your kid grows up.

Of course it doesn't have the garage space, but if the area is good(?) it could make compelling sense...

Could be made into a nice property, but As has been said if the OH doesn't like it then you might as well move on unless this is super cheap for the area.

I think the garden is going to kill this idea more than anything else. I'd be prepared to graft on the house but can't do much with the garden. It's certainly not cheap for the area, I think it's about 20k over priced. I might chuck in a low offer just to see what happens.

Thanks for the link above, it is a lovely house apart from being in the roughest estate round here, Netley View, aka Netley Zoo.

Thats better and given the decreased cost you could easily add a garage on the side.

For context I paid 150k for one of these back in 2012. 4 years later it's valued at 220k

Don't do this, unless you really want it. I tried this once, on a less than ideal house, they accepted it...............................................Gulp.

I think for a house in that area, for that price it looks ok to me. I think you could get the interior up to standard for £20k if you do most diy and then maybe get a professional in to fit kitchen/plumbing etc.

Only thing for me would be it doesn't look like a massive step up from your current house to justify moving costs and stamp duty. There's a doer upper bungalow for 300k not far away that I would say is a definite step up the ladder and has scope to add a fair bit of value. One slightly done up went for around that price several years ago when prices were much lower. Id be tempted to save up a bit more and make the move worthwhile. Just my opinion though

Been and seen it this morning, I love it mostly due to the epic garage...

Other half isn't so keen.

Here it is, what do you think?

More pictures to follow shortly as taking the MIL round, see if I can get her onside.
Ghastly, no character needs a total overhaul inside and out.

Probably be at least double where I am which is hardly Belgravia. And a few miles down the road you could likely expect not to get much change from a million for that.

The price is relative - forget the "you could get a palace round my way for that" brigade.

To counter poise, this is the cheapest house within quarter of a mile of me;
