Ours can be unlocked from either side.

I'm not sure how everyone has problems, a lot sound like poor installation/inadequate hardware for the job you want them to do.

our gate has a sim card, if it recognises the phone ringing it the gates open, easy to open as yu drive up also you can remotely open for deliveries. Also has a code pad and key lock
