End of week 12. The steels are in. Most of the floor joists are in.

Lower ground floor

Upper ground floor

Level 2

Level 3 - Still some joists to go in here.

The exterior walls are crumbling without internal support so they've been braced at each corner until everything is in place and they can be made good.

Rear extension

The bricky got carried away and has gone too far. The bricks below the sliding doors are about 20cm too high and the blockwork along the sides is a block too high and, frankly, garbage. That's coming down and being redone.

The schedule is a bit upside-down now, with the steels taking much longer and some work on other elements in the meantime. I'm told we're still on target but in reality I think we're about a week behind. I expect them to catch up by throwing extra manpower at it over the next two weeks. The lower ground floor was intended to be complete around now but the PM snafu means it can't be done until the roof is on and the scaffold can be removed from the extension area. We'll have to reinstall towers to install the windows at a later date. With a bit of luck we'll get started on the roof next week and hopefully also some internal walls.

This looks good and its a shame the holiday home had to go to make it happen, but I can see why.

Apologies for the silence. I've been very busy with this, with work things and crashing helicopters into Russian volcanoes ( https://www.instagram.com/p/BTFS1UJhHKO/?taken-by=... ). I'm behind on the blog too - not posting in the last two months.

It's ticking along. Stud work is done. First fix is mostly done. Staircases are in (not the lowest) with some handrail quirks to resolve on one. Roof is on. Windows arrive shortly. Basement floor is behind due to the scaffolding standing in the extension until that was removed. I'm now having battles with the contractor to get the level of fixtures and fittings we're aiming for without incurring large delays and cost increases. Budgets are pressed though and it looks like I may need to delay work to the family floor until next year.
