I prefer that. You don't always want everything perfectly symmetrical.

Pay him a bonus!

Cheers! I'm definitely pleased to have got the place fixed up quickly and without breaking the bank.

It was helpful to have this thread to make sure not to listen to the original guy trying to blag it, he tried to have me put an expensive UFH mat straight on top of his mess. He's buggered off with £500-£1k tops, probably worth it to not have him doing any more damage to the place. Expect his plastering would have matched his screed...

Strange! Must be a left hooker spread.

I can see why he did it,to get the half tile /full tile bond. He just needed to think a bit longer.

Weird starting on the right though.
Not if the doorway's on the right.

Yes you enter on the right, the picture was taken from the doorway.

Very nice, but I still would not let the orginal cowboy off the hook though.

Threaten to take him to the small claims court, unless he returns at least £500.

(Unless he's built like a brick sthouse then don't bother)

You should either start at the centre line or calculate back from it.

Then the cut tiles on both sides of the room would be equal.

This. It does not matter where the doorway is.

Had our extension screeded this morning, complete with reinforcing fibres. Pleased with the result smile

don't want to worry you unduly, but we have to make sure it's completely dry before any floor covering is laid. Even with the additive in the mix, it will still take 21 days,

eta, I like the tiles you have chosen. What are they?

Does he have kids? Buy some baby rabbits, and leave a dead one on his doorstep every night. Kids hate dead baby rabbits.
Even if he pays up, keep doing it, rabbits are only about a quid apiece.

Looks like you've had a good job done there Gaz, big extension. Yes ours had about 3 weeks to dry out before tiles went down, mostly spent waiting for the no-show guy to do something.

Oh well, the tile layout makes sense to me, I think it's nice to have the full pattern as you walk in, whether or not it's the proper way.

The tiles were a bit of a bargain actually, was going to buy them in store at full price but couldn't face loading the car, so went home to order online and they were 50% off! Pretty good for the money.

I think they are in the "wall and floor" section but they are wall only. Not sure what makes a tile wall or floor only weight ratings?.

i generally opt for larger format tiles which tend to be wall / floor usually. pretty much anything that is on special offer and big smile
i would imagine it would be better for the retailer if the tile is good for both, two bites at the cherry

But in wicks own picture it shows them on the floor, so they should be alright.
