My sons bedroom is really cold.

. . .We dont have the heating on
I know it's selective editing but I did laugh at the above.

It's around 10 degrees or less outside now at night so unless your home is built to very high insulation standards it's going to cool down without the heating on.

Anything below around 18 degrees is going to feel chilly, higher if the problem is drafts.

It was more due to the fact that it feels colder in that room even in july when its hot and the rest of the house is boiling. But also in september when we dont use the heating and now october when we do. So it's either a ghost or the room has sod all insulation. Il hopefully find out this week.

Ok used it now. The Outside wall is about 2 degrees cooler than other walls. Still cant find a "cold patch" in the wall as I was hoping there might be as this would be easier to fix if there was some insulation missing.

Im going to top of the insulation in the loft from about 120mm to 300mm this week.

Ive still got the tool and havent returned it yet if anyone has any tips or tricks they can recommend in using it.

Random thought - candles in the room and look for a breeze? - any insulation underneath? - aim the camera at the floor in that room compared with another room?

20.8 in that room
about 22.6 everywhere else

Not as simple as a night vent or trickle vent open on the double glazing is it? I'm sure it isn't but it's worth ruling out.

Crank the heating up, then go outside the house and take a thermal pic of the outside, looking for his room being warmer than the others?

(then post the pic up here to satisfy some of my idle curiosity!)
