Also my neighbour has just had a very similar driveway put in. Let me know if you want me to take action on your behalf.

Flipping heck. it's more rife than i thought.

At least the builder has the god grace to make my neighbours a mirror image and lose one of the dormers for a velux.

Joking aside, happens all the time. Okay so this is on a bigger scale than most imitations or adoptions but has always and will always be a fact of life. We've often joked about it in the past as the Mrs is a bit arty and quite often we have ideas and so on copied by friends and neighbours.

OP i would only be getting worries if you notice that they start to change their names to those of your family, buy the exact same car and start to follow you round Waitrose picking up only the things that you have in your trolley. Oh and I'd get some CCTV on the bins in case they are trying to increase their knowledge of you.

If you happen to pass theirs and hear the words "Edgar suit" move.

HTH.

Nice looking houses compared to the ones next doors.

Perhaps they used the same local window and door firm?

is everything on your house bespoke? built to your design?

I'm sure that everything is readily available at all builders merchants for anyone to use. and isn't that little Fiesta on the drive the same as on thousands of driveways across the country? you copied them I see.

needs to be in the first world problems thread smile

Question is where did you get the inspiration for yours?
Everyone copies from somewhere.

This happened to my parents a couple of decades ago, they built a house then 4 or 5 imitations sprung up over the next few years.

What actually happened was that they established a design and style for new-build that the council was happy fitted in to the local character. Other people knew that that was a design that was likely to be approved, so they copied it.
That would be quite annoying - you design and build your own house and then end up in a mini-estate of them.

need a picture taken from inside your car looking at it to show how disgusted you feel about it, or it didn't happen smile

You're getting confused, I think - that's the OP's cheap drive you're insulting.

Why is it strange. Grey windows and through coloured render are very 'in' at the moment.

There is a house, about 15 doors down which has copied alot of the ideas and features we put on our home.

The house in question:

They both look like projects that ran out of money before the painter applied the top coat.

If you're bothered, paint your woodwork a different colour and add some greenery. Maybe a couple of potted bay trees or some box. It will look immediately better and be different from your nemesis down the road.

I am with you here, OP.
I bought a jumper the other day from next, and I went to work in London and some bloke on the tube had exactly the same jumper on.
Naturally I followed him home and photographed him so I could show the Police but can you believe they weren't interested?
I feel violated and I was of the genuine believe that if you bought something or painted it, then you had effectively copyrighted that thing and nobody else could do the same.
