For once I managed to time it perfectly for the rain - I felt the first few drops just as I was putting the mower back in the shed.

Damn rain has ruined my plan of scarifing the lawn today. Going to have to make a nice edge instead.
I'd argue it's done you a favour, I'd wait longer before scarifying for a number of reasons, but mainly I'd be wary your lawn isn't growing fast enough to recover yet and surely you haven't had time to progressively get it short enough to prevent you generating a gazillion bags of moss

Cheers

I take your point but my lawn is I'd say 60% Moss so waiting longer might not help.

Mowed last week, and had to mow today as well. My lawn is pretty close to summer growth rate at the moment, guess its the warm March.

So this morning i nipped out to sort out the 2 levels in the garden

Built a quick step

Built a small wall at the back

I have racked and forked the garden, i have also moved half a ton top soil in

My seed and fertiliser have arrived. I will pay the fertiliser tomorrow and then a couple of days after i will sow my seeds in.

How long should i leave it until i sow after laying my fertiliser?

Thanks
Nick

Just done first cut and bottom lawn has these little sods all over it - main lawn not so much.

Any idea what they are?

Those will be sycamore seedlings. I get them too. Just mow over them each year and seems to do the trick.

^^^^ Absolutely shed loads of them myself. But just mowed them down. Other side of the lawn is just 100% moss. So I mowed the moss rolleyes

First cut of the lawn/moss today. Strangely satisfying, even if it's not in a good state.

Just spent 2 hours with an axe removing roots from the surface of my lawn so is doesn't kill my new Lidl scarifier when I 1st use it.

Runner up in the Mail on Sunday's "best lawn" competition 2014. I remember his Ransomes Certes mower more than anything nerd

(still prefer my Green's Zephyr though) smile

I hired an aerator (hollow tine) last weekend and spent a couple of hours pushing the machine up and down the front and back lawns. Had to look up the instructions on the interweb first but once I'd got the hang of it all was good.

Cleared up a few of the pellets but got bored of raking them up so have just left them now.

Next up is Iron Sulphate followed by fertiliser then seed later on.
