I bought a used Kinetico from ebay and got John (who is a PH'er with quite the nicest works van I've ever seen) from Sandys Salt and Softeners to fit it.

Unfortunately I was strapped for cash at the time so gambled on the used option, it actually paid off and is working brilliantly. First class fitting job from John too, and the difference it's made has been significant.

No scale in the kettle, the sinks stay cleaner longer, the shower barely needs cleaning since I spray it with Mr Muscle after each use. I can't recommend it enough.

Thank you.

Those of you with them fitted notice dramatic improvement
I really notice how much more rinsing it takes to get shampoo and soap off in the shower. Hard water made showering much quicker. If it weren't for the fact that the hard water was costing me a new heat exchanger in the boiler every two years or so, I'd have hard water please.

Yes, but it is still noticeable. I'm used to it now, and my wife thinks I'm weird for thinking about it, so maybe its just me smile

Also on the lookout for something to tackle the local hard water problem. I've seen something similar to this kind of thing advertised regularly in the Metro but I'm guessing they're nowhere near as effective as the Monarch/Harveys type of solutions using the calcium/magnesium method?

Anyone got any experiences of these?

Happy to recommend https://www.dorsetwatersofteners.com/ - ours has been running for 3 years, since Paul fitted it, no problems at all.
I used the same people, very good. They replaced our original softener that was fitted when the house was built 10 years ago.

Monarch midi user here with high flow hoses for my unvented system.
Power consumption is tiny - just a little black wall-wart.

Mine regenerates about every 1500litres of water, which is about every 5 days and it consumes 75L water doing the regen.

We have an excellent softener. Twintec. Supplied by Kevin Goody at www.uk-water-softeners.co.uk

Great system. Works off water pressure so you don't need an electricity supply. Lovely soft water.

Our previous one was st, so this thing is an absolute wonder....

We're in North Hampshire so he might be within range...

Yet us give you a price for the M2, do you want it fitted? or supply only?

yes

I was put off the kinetic/harveys/twintec as didn't like the way they operated I.e. marketing and salesman apointments over easy to find and transparent information.

Went with the Monarch midi due to the higher flow, but otherwise would have gone with a refurbished mechanical too.

Worth keeping an eye on:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332091462998
I wouldn't want to go much £250 for it though, i got mine for £180 (plus I had to buy the high flow hoses and valves)

We have a kinetico fitted- no need for power and drinking water is from fridge which is plumbed in before the softener.
Makes a big difference
Agree. Had a Kinetico for nearly 10 years. I buy the salt tablets online for around £45 which last a year.

Our tenant has fitted some sort of small device into the main incoming water line, not much bigger than a decent cigar. All it says on the outside is 'Scale Inhibitor' and 'Lifetime guarantee'. No makers name that I can see.

So, all you people spending a fortune have been ripped off when this little device can do the job so simply... coffee
