I've just botched a felt roof - will it last?

Looks like you've laid the felt sheets vertically?

Id have laid them horizontally, starting at the bottom, each length being overlapped by the one above.

You've actually done it the correct way , always dress the felt to the fall of the roof , although I will say it doesn't really matter on a shed roof that has a good fall on it , either way is fine , it's just quicker to run it across hence why it's usually done that way .

Kind of - used felt roof adhesive (horrible stuff) and stuck them down.

The only thing you may want to do is nail a treated lath down the joints and a right angle cover strip over the verges , ends , to stop the wind getting hold of any loose edges . Your roofing job will last for ages , don't worry about it , I've seen a lot of so called pros do worse .
