Hi folks

We like to mix up our holidays and would love to go to Nicaragua. Can anyone recommend places to stay / visit etc? We quite like action / adventure type stuff as well as hanging on a beach!

Yes I have, highly recommend it.

I went through Nica and Guatamala.

San juan is a cool backpacker town
Granada is a nice city next to a lake
Leon is another stop off, volcano boarding is a must IMO.

Food is pretty hit and miss(mostly miss sadly) It's cheap though.

Excellent. We've been to Colombia, Peru, Chile and Belize so are used to the hit and, mainly, miss nature of food there. Do you reckon Nica would be safe enough for a teenage lad?

I'd say you should be ok, just common sense type stuff.

I've been, if you can get yourself over to Little Corn Island it's freaking amazing.

Granada has a lovely lake created by a Volcano, try and spend a couple of days there too

I don't recommend Volcano Boarding down Cerro Negro. Espically if you try to go for the speed record, I managed to set the record for that day of 90kph however at the time I was barrelrolling down the hill whilst half the volcano embedded itself in my scalp.
