Only thing I can possibly think of is a building being put up with a thin ground floor and then a protruding first floor with more space. Otherwise it makes zero sense at all - can't even make it into parking spaces which would be worth a bit.
Could up up one floor, slight overhang backwards if allowed.

Custom single beds, etc

Plus a basement = 700+sqft?
Genuinely baffling.

And I doubt you could get permission for a basement there especially no wider than the plot.

Someone remind us to check the planning portal in say a year or so.
Here is 4 Ennismore Gardens Mews basement extension, matches the ground floor exactly, so likely no more for the corridor/roofed pavement house.

The carpet in photo 14, I have never seen anything like it, it's difficult to know what's pattern and what's stain.

If closer to the unis I would say student house as there seems to be computers set up in the living room and loads of crap aka study material.

Based on the fact that there's a camera set up on a tripod facing the bed, I'd imagine there's a fair few stains in that room...

It does! But it's a lovely old building, and enormous. Lots of potential.

That looks like the sort of place where local authority child abuse scandals happen, I imagine.

Sort of, but not one above each other. They seem to go up half height front to back, have a look on streetview here - https://www.google.com/maps/@51.2603046,-1.1304492...

It's why only one end of each floor has windows.

I used to have a house with a similar layout. Rooms at the back were a half level lower than the rooms at the front. I liked it (but you certainly climbed a lot of stairs in a day).

Another popped up this morning on a search list in my local area...

Beyond being squeezed into a tiny plot look at the decor! (or lack of!)

I live just down the road from there - as you probably know a massive new development is being built just behind that house. So that will be pleasant to look at in the garden.cool

Indeed, very local myself (other side of Shortlands Station to that place). Some funny stories I've heard about that development but I'll save them for another day...

Reading the description (and looking at the floorplan) I think it's a 1500 sq ft house with a detached converted garage as the annexe.

Can't see a picture of the main house but if you look at pic 3 of the kitchen you can see the annexe.

Might be wrong.
