I will be in Tasmania at the beginning of April and have been told that I can drive on the beach there. Is there somewhere that I can hire a 4x4 to do this?
Any recommendations of where to go would be gladly received.

Looks useful

I would say most hire companies would not let you drive anywhere near salt water. It might be worth getting involved with local 4x4 clubs and seeing if you can get a drive. Depends on how long you plan to stay but I would even consider buying as cars seem relatively cheap here in Tassie.

A quick google suggests that you can't even hire something that would be able to tackle beach driving. The most relative car I could find was a rav 4 rofl

Have to look under commercial or truck.
I remember the tarmac roads being real fun anyway.
My Commodore made it up Jacobs ladder.

Thanks. It looks like I could hire a Pajero for about $200 per day

I hired a 986 Boxster when I was there, there was a place had loads of interesting cars from MX5s to a 993 cab, and well priced. Can't find any web presence for them now though.

I know there won't be much chance of finding a discovery which would be ideal for me to have a drive along the beach and on the dunes.

What attractions are there to visit while I'm there?

Erm there's the... mmm er. Na.

Somewhere west of Hobart is a bridge walk thing through some trees, and a rope bridge. There's a cafe there you can get a brew.

You can look at lots of roads splattered with more dead animals than you've ever seen.

Salamanca has a market every so often where you can buy things and some pubs to eat and drink in.

You're right - there will be places that have a Land Cruiser to rent though which will be just as capable

Well I'm here. We have two Mitsubishi outlanders so I don't think they will be going on the beach. Mostly touring vineyards I think. Didn't get to do the cart track on Philip island either.

I managed to get some beach driving in at Cloudy Bay on Bruny Island. The driving in general is amazing on Bruny Island. Loads of serious off road tracks ( that we took our Subaru Liberty up laugh) One for next time g7jtk
