My fix is due up towards the end of May but just checked the current rates (as I've not got an exit penalty which I thought I had) and the cheapest kWh is 9.429 but a standing charge of 57.54p with Extra Energy but the rate is variable, cheapest fix (Scottish Power) is 11.88/kWh and 32.88/day standing charge. Currently paying 9.47/kWh and 15p a day standing charge so a big hike. Usage around 9000kWh per annum, electricity only as got biomass, so no gas.
A 2 yr fix with SP is 12.879/kWh and 25.76p/day standing, ie a 36% increase on unit cost plus 72% increase on standing charge costs. I know they are all increasing but wow!
Will keep looking but suspect rates will only go up.

All fine with First utility, moved from SSE(with a smart meter) all ok, smart meter doesnt integrate so is just a normal meter now, what a waste.

Interesting, I can never answer the question about how much energy I use a year. Really have to switch though, I'm just on a regular tariff.

Yes what a waste. Around 4 million people switched supplier last year, so does than mean once everyone has smart meters 4 million will become obsolete every year ?

Dali gas and extra energy here - no problems at all. What's scary after being with the larger suppliers is when you phone them they answer it. With real people. Weird.
I don't and won't have smart meters, but it sounds ridiculous if they're tied to only one supplier and completely useless after switching?

I recently got the results through of my local auction, but I thought I'd decline their kind offer to pay £100+ more per year than my current supplier.
