The emulsion paint in the kitchen has crazed and bubbled and peels off like wall paper. Any way to remove it? Im using a scraper and it's fine but more difficult in smaller area's.

I've used a wire brush - preferably attached to an angle grinder - dusty though.

Treat it like wallpaper then.
No apostrophe in areas btw.

Stay away from wire wheels in angry grinders, I don't know wtf that idea comes from unless the walls in your kitchen are granite or something.

Steamer and scraper would be my bet if it's shedding already. Just don't cook it too hard as the plaster will blow.

Sanding for fixing small bits or for general smoothing.

Oops - I should have clarified - I've only had to remove emulsion from brickwork - don't use it on plaster.

Sounds like someone has applied vinyl silk or vinyl matt directly to new plaster. Should come off in sheets with a steamer.

When repainting give it a mist coat of pissy contract matt (or Screwfix paint for new/bare plaster) before carrying on.

Had this exact problem when decorating the spare bedroom. Got the paint off with a window scraper, but that was hard work. I'll try a wallpaper steamer when I do the rest of the rooms. Previous owner has done all the walls with vinyl silk, and the edges lift when I try and do localised repairs.
