Thanks for all the advice - I think we're set on a repro Eames so will go and try one out this weekend.

Still quite fancy something a little more traditional-looking though - please keep suggestions coming!

I'd love an Eames but could never justify the cost. Let me know how you get on with a repo.

I tried this one in John Lewis recently, like the look and very comfy

Mine is a repro, but a half decent one, it was 500 cad inc the footstool, you'll have to be quick as the law on repro/inspired by copies is changing, it will soon be illegal to sell them in the UK.

Multiyork. Large range, choice of covers, choice of fillings for cushions, choice of sizes and styles. We bought two sofas about thirty years ago from them. We have replaced the seat cushions and added two sets of covers. They still have the original order online and know exactly dimensions, dates etc.

DPS at al are a bunch of box shifters at the end of the day.

I may be ridiculed for this but if in Ikea, sit in a Poang without looking at the price.

It has sorted out my bad back and is the only chair I've volunteered to sleep in.

The thing is, it is £55 so is often overlooked as a comfy chair.
Seconded. Often available on ebay for a fraction of the new price, washable loose covers are also cheap so you can buy one in an unsuitable colour and get a new cover for a total cost less than a new chair.

get one of these, one of the most comfy things I have ever sat in...

I think the £4000 asking price for a new genuine one may be an issue
