Psoriasis

Anyone else on here suffer from the above?
I have had it for about 20 years.
Had the Max doses of light treatment so that's out of the window.
Tried Enbrel for 2 years successfully but after that time it came back.
Been on Humira, again for two years, it worked up until a couple of months ago.
Psoriasis now back with a vengeance. Seeing the Derm in a couple of weeks but does anyone have any tips to stop the itching in the meantime?

Had three of the free sunbed treatment to date. However, doc has me on Dovobet with obvious caveats and prescription only with restriction on use so doctor issued only.

But E45 on prescription seems to be quite good. A thicker cream than over the counter bottle. Got a huge pump of the stuff. No limit on that.

Edit. Also Dovonex, prescription only however a greasy stuff that does not wick off like E45.

All from the doctor mind, nothing is self medicated and internet expert sourced.

Guessing you've tried various detox's over the years to see if it can be attributed to anything?

I've had flare ups and cut out caffeine, milk and bread and that seems to control it.

Then I can reintroduce them and it's fine for a couple of years.

Tis a nightmare when it is present though.

Had it all over me apart from face and hands a few years ago. Really not nice and has a big effect on your self confidence.

I had coal tar treatment which was a real pain and very messy. Then had PUVA bath solution followed by UVA treatment which cleared it all up. Nothing since thankfully.

Had lots of creams to try most of which seemed the same.

Had the coal tar but it was slapping it on and waiting in the hospital for the required time then oiling off and shower. Did sod all for me.

Oh poor you.... I have had a mini attack of it, I think brought on as a side effect of beta blockers or ace inhibitors taken for a heart issue. It why I asked what meds you were on, if any, as there seems to be a link.

I had it for about 15 years. Has slowly got more worse over time and now classed as severe.

I started seeing a derm about a year and half ago.
So far now on cyclosporine which does seem to work better, but makes me feel ill. I also use Dovobet.

It is a pretty soul destroying disease, when it is bad it is really bad. I tried loads of things, only drugs seem to work. skin everywhere is my biggest bug bear, I also find moisturisers don't really do much.

I've had it since I was 6 had the uvb but you can only get it for so long the only other thing that worked was exorex cream.

Has pretty much clearly it up bar one or two difficult bits, have you had that?

Try this one(non-prescription and sold in most pharmacies. They do small sizes so you can test it out)

I use betnovate and a vitamin D gel, works a treat, I only have it quite mild though, mainly on my scalp with a few patches elsewhere

Thanks for all your replies/advice/suggestions.
I have had uvb and it worked fantastic. I have had five lots of treatment now so can't have anymore which is a shame.
Currently lathered up with Diprobase and a cotton pyjama set. Look like a "Mummy". seems to be a bit better today if not perfect! I'm about 50% covered at the moments and it's getting worse by the day.

Like I said I'm seeing the Derm in a couple of weeks so hopefully he can get me on something else. Bleeding like a stuck pig from the scratching at the moment.

Its a solution you add to the bath and sit in it for 10 mins just before you then have the UVA treatment. It makes the UVA more effective.

Felt a bit weird having a bath in the dermo unit of the hospital but it did clear it up quickly.

The coal tar doesn't get rid of the psoriasis on its own. It just reduces them and smoothes the patches off so you need less UVA treatment.

Is it possible to get a gp appointment for exorex in the mean time? It really does make a huge difference.

Thanks. That figures, when others in at the same time were getting a bath pre treatment. I am not that bad yet then.

I get it on my right elbow so normally hidden from view. Sometimes flares up on my shin at random but don't have it there presently. I also get it in/around my ears but only in a very minor way. Currently using Epaderm cream which seems to work pretty well; not using every day though so never quite goes away.

Should have added that you add it to food not rub it on.
Works great plus it has loads of other benefits.

Coconut oil that is, can't imagine Exorex is to tasty.
