Gday.

Looking for a reasonably fast estate with a 6 to 7k budget. Ideally need 3 kids (1 high back booster a baby seat and a 10 year old) across the back.

Looked at an 07 Mercedes e class estate. As they have the fold up seats in the back. And also the Volvo xc90. Will kids find it easy to step into? Does the car have steps into it? I know it's not an estate but do like them.

Ideally after a petrol. With max 130k on the clock.

Thanks.

Thanks for replies. Some good researching to do there. Anyone got any experience with the cars?

Are the cars wide enough for 3 kids? The c class is surprises me.

It depends on the size of the seats but the C Class may be fine, but try & find one locally & give it a try.

To be honest, you might struggle with 3 seats in anything but the widest estate/SUV cars... that why I suggested the R class as it has 2+2+2 seating, and would work as long as one of your seats fits the rear seats.

Mondeo 2.5 Turbo estate. Enormous inside. Plenty of room for kids and all their crap smile. Comfortably under budget too, but quite hard to find.

Do they have isofix in those?

Any ideas as to where I can find dimensions of cars. See how wide they are.

Don't know about the Isofix in the R-Class (I suspect it would have it), but the Mondeo definitely does. I went from a Mk3 Mondeo to a Mk4 and it is noticeably wider.

A website such as Parker's or Autotrader will probably have the dimensions listed somewhere. Obviously though these will be outside dimensions so won't give an accurate I fixation of how much room is inside.

Oh, and if an MPV is more your bag, then Ford also put the 2.5 Turbo in that biggrin

Another vote for the BMW 545i.

Big petrol V8 means they are not as popular with used buyers as the diesels, which in turn means more bang for your buck.

Plus, whenever I see a 545i wafting along the road, I give the driver a knowing nod. Some know what I'm on about, some think I'm weird, some ignore me. biggrin

We've got a mk3 Mondeo at the moment. And that's a squeeze with the 3 in the back.

Mrs tonight has said are we better off spending the extra and getting an SMax sport. Typical. Not that I mind the SMax sport.

Thanks for the pics of the dimensions.

Daft as it sounds the BM I'd have to have in m sport guise. Just makes it look that bit more mean.

Am I right in thinking dealers should have a load of older cars due to people buying new cars on the 17 reg and they part ex their old car?

I noticed the 17 cars coming onto the roads today. Seen a couple.

BMW look out of my price range. Mrs said I we gonna spend more than budget we definitely need a 7 seater.

Saw a SMax 2.0 ecoboost titanium x sport for under 8k on auto trader. Seems a bargain and only done 83k miles. Too good to be true. Too far away to go look at it.

I'm finding it a nightmare to find my next car. I'm looking for a estate. Budget 10k.
But for 13k I can get so much more car.
So I decide to go to 13k then a 15k car has is so much newer and lower miles. At this rate I'll end up buying New!

I'd say ring the dealer & try & get a feel for it do your HPI check, then take the plunge & go to see the car at the end of the day if it's the right car it's worth you putting yourself out.

I live in Kent & I'm traveling up to Blackpool tomorrow to look at a car.

To be honest I'll doubt I'll bother as it's not the colour we want. It's a dark grey one.

Want one in silver black or white.
