Is spending 57quid on 5L of oil worth it?
Discussion
I'd be wary of using 'competition' or 'motorsport' oils in a road engine as the formulation may be different to normal roadgoing oils; i.e. it may not contain additives which, for example, prevent sludge build-up or detergents which clean the engine as this would not be needed in an engine which was rebuilt frequently.
Perhaps ask Millers for their advice?

Looking at it another way it's 0.57p/mile... you probably spend 20-30 times that per mile on petrol...
You spend upwards of £7.50 per mile in petrol?MrBarry123 said:
That's the oil that will be going into my car next week.
I've been using the oil this has replaced - CFS 5w40 NT - for the past 10k miles and I like to believe it's made a difference in comparison with the Castrol oil that I used before!
Yes me too. I have been using the old stuff for 4 years or so. There is a very specific part that is prone to wear on my engine (Vw TFSI) and this stuff does seem to prevent it from wearing. No idea if using a bog standard oil would have been any different though.I've been using the oil this has replaced - CFS 5w40 NT - for the past 10k miles and I like to believe it's made a difference in comparison with the Castrol oil that I used before!

You spend upwards of £7.50 per mile in petrol?I read on a forum somewhere that a guy had an Audi 3.0 tfsi engine which is renowned for startup chain chatter. He changed his oil to this and the noise disappeared.
I've got the same engine in my A8. Although I didn't use the Millers, fresh synthetic oil from TPS made the noise last less than a second on startup when it used to go on for longer.

That was me on my B8 S4, using Millers CTS nanodrive.I've got the same engine in my A8. Although I didn't use the Millers, fresh synthetic oil from TPS made the noise last less than a second on startup when it used to go on for longer.
We also have a Focus ST170, this has always been run on Fuch Race Pro S 5w-30 changed every 10k or yearly with about 1/2 litre topup between services apart from one service I tried Castrol Edge 5w-30, the engine was noiser and burned 1 litre every 3k... The focus has now covered 110k and at it's last MOT the Hydrocarbon emissions were at 3ppm. I also needed to change the cam cover gasket at the last service and the engine is spotless inside with very little wear.
My view is speak to Opie oils and go by their recommendation, they know their stuff!
The CFS is an Ester synthetic, so your car, engine and driving habits should tell you if you need it or not.
The Nanodrive is a friction reducing additive.
When I first heard about it, I trawled Google looking for evidence and although I found nothing 100% conclusive, there is enough to make it worth using if you have an engine with a known weakness; Mini/camchain, Porsche/bores* etc.

Except on a race car, waste of money IMO. Use the correct spec for your engine and change it (and the filter) at least as often as the service intervals dictate. Don't get taken-in by the friction reducing rubbish (reminds me of the Slick 50 days!)
The only oil I spend a small fortune on is the special oil I need for the Cobra since it uses a pretty aggressive flat tappet cam and needs an oil with the appropriate additive package for that particular scenario.
