One thing I would consider is the more equity you have, the more choices you will have. Pushing to get somewhere that better fits your aspirations for you and your family now will only become more important as time goes by. In our case we owned some beautiful houses in good areas, but our priorities have changed over time and we have been able to buy a great house in a wonderful area, due to the right decisions for us over the last 25 years!.
I think you know what you want to do, Please update the thread when you move! smile

I'm not sure 'wonderful' is the right adjective for anything in Glasgow but it's where we want to be so will do our best. smile

Bought first house at 21, we looked outside the area we lived at the time as we didnt want a massive mortgage, We drove around the area with the doors locked as we considered it rough. Ended up buying on the very same road, lived there for 5 years, there where times when we forgot to lock the cars or back door it was that quiet.

Sister in law was buying first home, boyfriend was a bit of a snob but showed them what they could afford compared to where they where looking (3 bed detached end close massive gardens vs semi dormer bungalow)

I admit the area isn't classed as the best, its on the outskirts of a rough area, 2-3 mils away is classed as posh but exactly the same mix of people live there. Our daughter goes to school in the posher area and she does very well, we push her and she responds to it. My wife done a short stint in the local to us school and didnt realise how many kids where deprived in our area.

Location means nothing in life, its what you put into it

Very, I want to be in an area where I'm comfortable with the people around me.

I'd love to agree with you but unfortunately you are completely wrong.

IME it is entirely who you know, not what you know.

Whilst it is possible to "make it" from a northern council estate perhaps 1 in 1000 does, whilst the Chumley Warners send their children to private school in the south where perhaps 1 in 10 "makes it"

It does of course depend how you define success.
