I'm struggling to figure out the best place to fit sockets for the breakfast bar are / worktop run on this side, the problem is that the run of units where the sink is and also the breakfast bar area are both a long way from a wall. I know that there are pop-up sockets that you can get but even for those I don't see a good location.

Apologies for the tricky to understand picture but from the top of the breakfast bar working down and right the units are wall end units on the floor, 900mm pan drawer, 10cm space for tea towels, tumble dryer (opening under breakfast bar), washing machine, sink unit and dishwasher.

All thoughts gratefully received!

PS. I promise the build thread will start this week![url]

Just underneath the lip of it?

Under some simple flap sockets (like you see on the floor) in the middle of the counter?

Thought about a central up stand/platform to put Vases/candles/stuff on, which the sockets can sit on the wall of?

Those rising sockets in the 'tower' I like the look of, but my OCD would be drive mad if there was much wobble/slack in it when it is extended up.

Apologies I wasn't clear, I meant along this area of worktop but most likely to be used more from the kitchen than the breakfast bar.

I looked at these but I didn't like the look of any and thought they'd be a magnet for crumbs.

Yes, I liked the idea but SWMBO doesn't so it's not going to happen.

I think I could live them, I'd get one that could go down with the cable attached to it to avoid that but I can't figure out a good place to put it.

One option I did think of was to have a double socket at the top of the tea towel area just below the worktop. I'm not a huge fan but it's the best I've got right now.

Could you not just put them at the end of the breakfast bar (where the 570 dim is, under the 550 and 1500 dim)? I think that's a small corner cabinet so you'd have to have a back box in the cabinet, but would work otherwise.

And/or under the bar itself as suggested.

FWIW we have a socket a the end of an island, works great, we do very occasionally miss having another at the other end under a breakfast bar. I don't like the pop-up so they weren't a consideration.

This, and as many as possible, you'll always want more.

I'd have at least 2 at the end of the bar, 4 on the wall each side of the sink unit, half a dozen on the RHS wall, etc, etc

At the end of the bar would be great but there is a wine rack in the middle of curved corner units so I don't see how that could work?

I like this, will see if I can so something like that.

The end of the bar is good, the problem around the sink is that there is not a wall here, there will be at least half a dozen on the right hand wall though!

Interesting idea and probably a last resort as I guess though that if I want to plug in a mixer, food processor or smoothie maker in I'm not going to want the cable going down to the floor though (these are the items I think I mostly need the power for).

We put sockets underneath the island worktop like this. Very useful for things like mixers.

No, that would make it tricky! Sorry, hadn't realised the rack was going there, thought it was just a normal cupboard

Thanks I like that and will definitely look to do something similar, I was just trying to figure out if there's anywhere convenient I can put sockets to access them from within the 'U' of the kitchen.

We have a post, so put a double socket on each side of it. Also under the seating area on the right (near the fridge - now painted to match the tongue & groove panelling, so much less visible).
