I see that as more than 4 days work, certainly 5 maybe 6.

Setting out properly can easily take 1/2 a day trying to find the best combination of positions that marry up with the ceiling joists etc.

40 DL's is also alot and depending on how fiddly they are to fit and wire.

(But I am not a sparks)

I'm not a spark either- but agree it feels longer than 4 days, unless it's a two man team

Yep, just had this issue on a couple of jobs recently.

They hate it when i tell them how much i could have supplied them for.
Always makes me laugh people think they can out-smart you making purchasing decisions your life is based around.

Personally I'd rather people bought all their own kit as I'm flat rate VAT, but FFS exploit what you're paying for and speak to me first. Someone mentioned MK as an example of higher quality - MK went south when they were bought by caradon in the 90's, people tell me they want MK cos their dad says its the best, their dad is some old codger who thinks merc still build the best cars and bought a grundig televison last week because everything else in the shop was "korean or something rubbish brands". Overpriced MOR at best, but theres nothing to gain argueing, old fart of a dad knows far more than the pro you're employing. Just add on some additional cost plus fifty quid to cover an extra in warenty failure and go.

OP is the quote from a builders own electrician? Lot of builders expect a "drink" out of these, some to the point they end up with monkey electricians as the likes of me wont work cheap enough to balence it out.
