2018 VANTAGE & THE SALES CYCLE
Discussion
Of course we do not know, but as the new Vantage model was not announced at Geneva, some have wondered whether the launch might perhaps have been delayed.
It has occurred to me that there could be a connection with the DB11. The Company seem to be very pleased with the number of orders for the DB11. The two charts below show what always happens to new model sales. Therefore, if production of the DB11 is now at a higher level than anticipated, then possibly the new Vantage could have been held back slightly, so that it can produce a second production peak, when DB11 sales might be expected to slow.

Well the current model is dead in the US. Does not pass current impact standards. So if they care about US sales, they may not want to postpone it too long.
It staggers me (and by the way - you're 100% correct). I find it hilarious that our American friends believe an F150 is more impact friendly than a car that passes legislation in every other worldwide country. Being hit with an F150 must be like being smashed in the minerals with a brick woodsypedia said:

^^^^^I struggle to see the sales success of the DB11 as more and more "launch edition" cars appear on the various websites. I think that there are more than 30 cars available in various configurations and some are around list price which means that dealers will be buying them below list - which I had confirmed by a friend of mine who sold it back to the dealer at a 10k loss (and bought a Vanquish instead).

The commonly held wisdom applies here; a car loses as much as 30% as soon as you drive it off the forecourt! The aspiration factor also applies here, many buyers will be in the fortunate position to buy a DB11, return it to the dealer & not really mind if they take a hit on the depreciation. There will be plenty of potential buyers ready to snap them up.

Interesting.
I see there are 11 on the used list, presumably mostly demonstrators.
One is at £179,000 with 700 miles and lots of options, even includes jewellery.
What would the list price be on that spec.?
No premiums on these then.

I am surprised to see quite a few used DB11's already listed in the US too. It's a beautiful car, but for me it's just not special. Had I the money, it would be my last choice over any of the other Aston's. I feel let down by the interior. Even Mercedes is getting away from the iPad stuck in the middle of the dash.
The sales figures are going to VERY interesting! What would be even more interesting is to know who is upgrading to a DB11 from a VH-platform car!! I'd put on a healthy wager that there aren't that many (or/and are also on PH! ). I firmly believe that at this early stage of the move from NA to turbo, there is a pretty extreme polarisation; I also think this will continue until either (a) There's no alternative but to go turbo or/and (b) the cars prove to be a significant leap forward & opinions change. In any event it's going to take a lot to persuade the die hard NA fans to make the switch!
My 2p worth of course, but if I had the money, I would have a DB11 over a NA car like a shot! The Volcano Red car looks fabulous!!

The reason I disagree is the DB11 is the future no doubt about it. But a few years down the road they will become much more common place than the NA Aston's. Doesn't make them bad, probably a better car, but just not that special. I don't think they will hold their value well either, will be some great deals few years down the road since there will be so many of them. IMO only. Funny thing i was in Dubai Aston Martin the other day. 3 DB11's, DB9 GT and a DB9 Carbon White. 1 DB11 was sold. I was passing through Dubai but took the chance to look at the DB11 in the flesh for the first time.
Quality is there but i came away a bit meh. I was more drawn to the Carbon White DB9 to be honest.
The DB11 made me feel a little like i do when i go into a Porsche showroom. All im sure capable cars but wasnt giving me the fizz i got with my old 996 C4S and certainly not what i get with my 4.7 V8V.

Except Aston shouldn't be playing in that pond. My mk2 XC90 didn't lose that amount sadly. A Volvo...
Unless there is a waiting list for new cars, there is little to prop up the price of lightly used ones.....
I stood next to a couple of DB11's this week that were just a few feet away from a black Vanquish S with some red Q bits.
The Vanquish S is an emotional awesome shape and the DB11... isnt
DB11 looked long and skinny and the Vanquish S looked fat and mean
I think Im going to feel the same way when the new Vantage appears and is parked near a V12S.
