Well Folks,

Its been a while since I have posted on here. I believe it was back in 2006 when one of my Champion GTE's was stolen! I wonder where it ended up, stolen from Leixlip just outside Dublin. It had a slightly damaged back end noticeable within the wheel well. Anyways thats not why im posting. The good news is I have another which I have had in storage since 2005. I had a full respray and then parked her up! Afraid to take it out again after what happened with the first. These were always hard to come by but now I just dont see them available anymore. There was only 250 genuine Champion models made and this is one of them. It has 88k on the clock and has all the trimings.

How much they valued at these days, tempted to let her go. but again something inside telling me to just keep it. One for the future and all that.

GTE CHAMPION 1991
88000
Full Recaro Black Lether
Champion decal
Redtop
Remote Clifford Alarm

Interested to hear your thoughts on this wee classic.

Howmanyleft say there are only 5 left.

I had a burgundy GTE 16v (that I put a C20LET in after a year) for about 6 years. Loved that thing but I know they are not as popular as I wish they were.

5 is the number of SORN cars. Last year there was only one taxed.

I wouldn't rely too heavily on those HML stats. It assumes they were all registered as Champions.

An ex had a Mk1 A900xxx, a red one, wish I could remember the numbers. I had a silver Harrier which I wish I'd never sold, which apparently there are only 13 left (mind yo only 500 were built so a decent ratio in comparison).

Escort Harrier? Recaro Seats , stripe along the swaige line and RS Alloys?. A rare beast indeed, I only ever say one, NEV902V in white was the reg before it got nicked back in 1988!.

IMO They're a step up from RS2000's purely for rarity value. Got any pics?.

IMO they are a step back from RS2000s purely for being FWD, but I may be biased! laugh

Time for a photo, as mine really existed!

I think he means the Escort Harrier is a step up from the RS2000

But I would also say that a GTE Champion is several steps above an RS2000, no matter which wheels are driven!

I have somewhere but sold it in 1990. Its still around and was for sale a couple of years back - wish I had known but it was more than 10x what I'd sold it for. Reg was KWK222V which I think was a Coventry reg.
Just found a picture:

Friend wishes he'd kept hold of his RS1800 - remember razzing back from down South of England with him after he'd bought it, him in the 1800, me in my RS2000. We sort of laughed at him at the time as there was no performance difference......and the 1800 cost double what a 2000 was in the same condition. They must be about 3 or 4 times the value disparity now

Here's my old non-Champion 16v - similar colour though

This was mine, never realised how rare it was at the time. Was disappointed to see it lowered with after market wheels about a eighteen months after I let it go:

Oops, just checked out your profile pic ConwayGTE, each to their own. TBH those wheels were a nightmare, centres proud of the rims so they'd kerb in the middle rather than the edge (my wife also drive it!). Set for sale here https://www.gumtree.com/p/wheel-rims-tyres/set-of-...
