The snapping trick worked great.
Photos look good but would like to see where you've "scored and folded" them wink
I'd want to see more screws in those boards! (unless you hadn't finished?)

Once skimmed over you may find in time where you have scored and folded that the plaster cracks due to a weak spot introduced into the sheet of board

More screws will be screwed in, my arm was aching too much to do any more today. The fold should not crack because we used board adhesive over the back of it. So providing the whole ceiling doesn't shift too much it should be fine. Also the paper on the board is surprisingly strong.

It'll be fine IF the fold is on and in line with a joist if not you're relying on luck wink

Did the same with the walls. Score, fold, open and dot and dab. Worked a treat.

Use the smaller 1800x900 boards, they are a lot easier to handle, I did my bedroom on my own, used a wooden prop to hold them up as I screwed. The Maid, found it easy to carry them up to her attic room.
I was actually going to use the 2.7m boards as it means we can do it in single spans.
No. you will F it up. Use the smaller ones.

lol, sorry. was at work and couldn't see the pics. or apparently read!

With the lift it makes the job way easier. Have seen many people try to do that without the lift and end up just splitting the board, or it pulls off the screws when you put the first few in.

Just make sure each screw is really tight into the board. check it by pushing the board around the screw. if it moves at all, then when this is skimmed over, it will create a hole in your plaster. Check each one amazingly well, then recheck them. Ceilings/walls are often ruined from this.

Judging by the pics, I would guess that the op is using a drywall bit as screws seem uniformly deep.

Nice job there OP

What factors would make you take the ceiling down and replace with board as opposed to overboarding?

I took the ceiling down in my room at my mum's place about 12 years ago. Very messy job but it did feel quite clean putting up new board and knowing all that soot had gone. We have a room above my room so I didn't add any insulation.

We did the kitchen ceiling a few year back and removed the old board and it was horrifically messy. Ocerboarding is much cleaner.

If it cracks I'll let you know. :-)

I'm 98% sure it won't.
