Hi

First post on here, after reading all of your valuable opinions on all matters AM.

Just trying to gauge how long others have had test drives for when considering buying a new Aston. I have owned a DB9 before and several other fast cars, but a few have given me a bad back when in the driving seat for too long.

I have had Porches and others on 24 and 48 hour long test drives.

Your useful and constructive posts are gratefully received.

I cannot tell from any test drive whether a car seat will be comfortable long term. I have found that it can take a period of ownership to get used to the seat in a new car. Just once it turned out to be a problem. I had ordered a car with optional extra sports seats, and I ended up being able to do a no cost swap for the standard seats. A salesman did the swap and put the sports seat in his own car.

I have often bought cars after a pretty short test drive. In the case of my current V12V it was only a few minutes. I had previously borrowed a V8V convertible with paddle shift which my son had, and I had thought 'if only it was a coupe with a manual box'. I have not regretted my purchase.

just had two shortish test drives of a V8V manual and wasn't that keen after first one as had a long cross country drive with bridge closures and diversions and then wasn't in right frame of mind to drive it on strange roads. 2nd drive was great and variety of roads and styles in 20-30 mins or so (and also drove those roads a few times in old car in between).

in between I did have a 24 loan/drive of an AWD V6S F type auto and the different auto settings and drastic changes got a bit of a pain after 100 miles or so.

The newer seats on the Vantage are a huge improvement on the early type. With the range of adjustment in the seat, upper and lower electric lumbar, and the adjustable wheel, unless you are outside average proportions or have medical ailments, im sure you will be fine.

I do 3hr each way trips regularly without issue...and I have a lot of mechanical ailments myself wink

Test drove a manual 4,3 V8 with Sports suspension for a day, great car but did not nike the hard suspension and the lack of power down low.
Then a 4,7 Sportshift standard suspension for 30 minutes, absolute perfect fit for me and bought it. Still totally happy with her.
Cheers
