We are having an extension built this year and have decided on having ultra slim (20mm ish) sliding aluminium doors.

I wanted to ask if anyone had good experiences of a particular company and fitters? It's a minefield out there and as it's going to cost the best part of £15-20k I want to research this extensively! Our architect has mentioned he's used IQ Glass whose products look great, but have mixed reviews online. Anyone heard of them? We are based in Kent if area is relevant.

Anyhow any recommendations would be great.

Thanks!

I work as a QS / PM within the residential sector.

IQ are good, and have a workshop / showroom to visit and test them out
Fineline are better, but more expensive.

None are cheap though!

Another recommendation for Fineline.

They are expensive but also an excellent piece of kit.

Thanks guys, I'll get a quote from Fineline as it would be good to see what the price will work out as. Is there customer service good?

We got great service, but then my father-in-law did own the company at the time...

A few of the current fitters are members of my extended family and I can vouch for them being very good at what they do. Ultimately though, fitting is relatively simple as long as your openings are done to the correct size. You will likely have more issues to deal with in relation to your builder getting the right tolerances in the construction rather than the installers of the windows.

^^^agree, recently attended the Homebuilding and Renovation Show at the NEC, and came away more confused on which company's doors and styles to go for. Did intend going for bi-fold doors, but from the advice received, that the same cam be problematic, now starting again from scratch.

Velfac all day long. Haven't had one issue with them, ever in 10 years of fitting them to various projects.

Check out Soreg, marketed in the UK through Internorm. We have looked at a number of systems (with our architect) for a new build in Devon, the rear of the house is fully glazed top to bottom and Soreg ticks all the boxes, triple glazed with high UV rating and very well built with a number of features that you won't see on other similarly priced systems (such as Fineline).

I looked at IQ and Fineline, both very good but over my budget.

Went with ID Systems and their 'Edge' system with minimal sight lines, had four panels with three sliding, overall width of just under 9 metres and 2500mm high, cost was midway between your figures.

I would recommend.

I've gone with these people - so far so good... just ordered new windows and a large sliding Edge door for new extension. Partly wanted a local company incase of any issues down the line, as also based in Kent.

Found they are prompt and pro-active so far, and come in under IQ Glass.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

I need three bifolds for my kitchen/lounge renovation. However two of the locations for bifolds are currently windows not doorways. Do any of these bifold companies do a complete service like? Would rather not have to juggle buying the doors and arranging a builder to all happen at the same time. I'm based just north of Milton Keynes if that makes any difference.
