Planning a triple garage extension with a room above, but also want to put a 4 post lift in the centre garage space.

I reckon my Tam is 1.2m high which would only leave 1.1m ground clearance without lowering the floor.

I could have a pit under the lift but I'm not too keen on pits unless there is an air flow system to ventilate.

So - anyone managed to get a 4 post lift in a 2.4m high garage?

Did you lower the floor or build a pit?

I'll be intrigued to see what replies you get on this as I am also building a triple garage, and am also having a room above, and being able to 'future proof' it for a 4 poster would be good.

Cheers

I've considered this; you can definitely do it - I have 2.5m (trussed roof) but I'm not sure what you'd use it for. I wanted to park underneath - can't be done without raising the roof or having the trusses removed/re-engineered - it just works out silly money. Google 2 and 4 post lift for home use - there are a couple about that are both shorter and lower but still lift high.

Neither - well, my neighbour did neither. He built his garage (with room above) to have a flap in the floor so when he wants to use his lift, the upstairs room floor flaps open (on hinges) allowing the lift to use the height in the room above. He has a temporary safety barrier to stop his kids from falling through the gap but as they are probably usually at school when he does his car stuff, it's probably not much of an issue. I've as yet to use his lift but I can't see that lasting much longer!! laugh
