I've got a largish kitchen

Would like to fit led strips under the wall mounted cupboards and down by the kick boards

Any recommendations, eBay specials worry me, but I dunno

Just pick up the ikea ones for under the cupboards.

Not too sure if they do kickboard ones

I got mine from Guy when I bought the ZEP1s but if I'm honest I'd rather them a little brighter - so if anyone has any suggestions….

I used the multi coloured ones you can get on Amazon, sold by loads of sellers but must be the same OEM.

Put them on top of my cupboards for some ambient lighting, works really well for 3 years until one set started flickering. Bit worrying when I investigated further, so buy the cheap IO Amazon ones with caution:

Problem with ones around the kickpanels is that they illuminate your dirty floor

We are just having a kitchen dinningroom built and buying ours from a company called Litewave. They aint cheap, coming in just under £1k. For that you get 25mtrs split into 4 zones, zen box, drivers and profiles. We also have a cable from a ceiling speaker to the zen box, so the lights go to the music if you want. There are 16 million colours to play with if you have the time.

We've just had some fitted, they sit beneath the worktop ledge but above the cabinets, looking at the box its a company called Ansell and its called a Viper RGB LED kit. Costs about 35 quid from electrical wholesale places.

Its remote control and has some truly terrible colour settings but we just have it on white and it looks great. It looks easy to fit too.

Certainly something I would subscribe to but it does seem difficult to determine what is good quality.

Prices seem to vary for the same product (same generic photos) so it seems you're as likely to pay double for the same product .... and then buy twice!

I guess it comes down to the spec and quality control in the Chinese factory, but as an end user we have no information or control of that.

For the project pictured i used a 5050 SMD strip rebated into the underside of the worktop. For under the cupboards i installed in an aluminium profile and under the kickboards the client wanted it left without the profile as they liked the effect on the floor.

For added effect the centre section had colour change with warm white option.

Looks very similar to our kitchen with the aluminium profile between the worktops & base units and down the side of the tall cabinets.

Looks great.

I used to have a Pronorm kitchen and the LED strip lighting was from https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/
I like the fact that you buy each component separately, so it's highly customisable. It does take a bit of time to work out exactly what you need to order though.

Do you mean the 'Loox' range? I use it all the time for fit outs, it's good stuff.

I agree

It's hard to know what you're buying and frequently if you wish to buy a branded product they can be 10x the price - in which case buying twice is still far cheaper !

Yes, of course it is, as long as you ignore the potential fire damage, and the labour costs if any.

It's what made me choose the ones I bought from- bloke who runs it has a background in electronics. His tech help I dealt with had a Msc in Electronic Engineering.

We never thought we'd use it so much, so I just bought a cheapy set off ebay, similar to the below but only one colour. The electrician then wired it into a switch.

18months later no issues at all, and the wife uses it far more then the normal over head lights.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/BMOUO-5050-Strip-Lights-B...

On top of the cabinet it is simply stuck to the back of the plinths, under the cabinet I used proper doubly sided tape to keep it stuck in place. Not the neatest if you look underneath the cabinets, but works well.

Never had any issues with heat / fire.

Sticking a set of LEDs up takes a whole 5 minutes

I have them in my car, van and kitchen, many have worked for many years - the guarantee on the expensive ones is no longer than on the cheap ones.
