Has anyone been through this? Got the Zep1s and Zep6s and so far have tried a couple of trailing edge dimmer modules (Hamilton B100 and Varilight V Pro) and neither seem to be particularly quick to respond to dimming which I find really irritating! If anyone has had the same dilemma I would be v grateful for any better suggestions.

Cheers, Klive

Have you tried any of Auroras offerings I've been pretty happy with them.

What is your setup, no of lights etc?

Funny you should say that.. we were planning to use it with aurora modules, and actually they work perfectly. Problem is the Aurora module is leading edge and the ecoled lights are trailing edge. I have no idea what either of those things mean but I am told that using them together could lead to a shortened lifespan, probably for the dimmer. I spoke to Aurora to see if they do a trailing edge dimmer but they don't (they used to but not any more).

Set up is about 20 circuits which vary from 2 to 10 light fittings on any one circuit. in 90% of locations that is 10W Zep1 or Zep 6.

Switches we are using click definity range everywhere else and plan to use their modular light switch system / grid. So I'm looking for module to retrofit into the click light switch fittings.

The Varilight dimmers are ok but they are slow and kind of non linear dimming I would say (i.e. dims really slowly and then the last bit is too fast) Played around with the settings to get the best out of them but still not as good as I would like. The Aurora works brilliantly but for a very faint buzz when dimmed down.

When I figure this out I then have to work out what works with the LED tape.....

Cheers Skilly1, seen that and the ones I have tried are recommended. I was hoping someone could say from experience that XYZ works a treat.. and hopefully avoid me having to keep working through that list.

I am really surprised Aurora dropped the trailing edge dimmer, I wonder if its because they are making a lot of ballasts / led transformers standard or leading edge compatible?

I am also surprised the vpro has an issue, I know trailing edge adjusts the back of the current wave and as a result I wonder if that is why the response is slower, I would speak to vpro and Hamilton.

How is the light from the zeps? are the 6's fixed down or adjustable?

@Strath44 the Zep6s only arrived today but there is a mix of fixed darklights, trimless adjustables, and trimmed adustables. Just looking at them out of the box, they look fantastic, you can easily see why the price difference to the Zep1s. When we get them hooked up I'll let you know how they go.

I'll give varilight and Hamilton a shout in the morning and see what they say. The Hamilton is unusably slow. The VPRO you could just about live with, but its not quite what I hoped for.

I'm not 100% happy with v-pro so will be interested in comments on other dimmers. There is a very slight flicker in the Zoe 1 lights, barely noticeable except to me who is looking for it.

Hi @klivedrgar

What did you end up using in the end? I've got some ecoled lights on order from Guy and I'm about to go through this same process. I've been looking at the Varilight eclique 2 dimmers as I want to be able to achieve 2 way dimming but haven't received one yet to test it out.
