Removing coving - skimming

I would like to remove the coving in my house and skim right up to the edges between walls and ceilings. The walls in some rooms have already been skimmed recently before I moved in but had coving installed at the same time.

Would a plasterer be able to tidy the area behind the coving up, without having to skim the full wall/room? and would I be able to paint on top of this and get it to match with the rest of the wall (painted white) easily enough?

I need my hallway and landing fully skimming throughout, but wanted to know if it was worth removing the coving and tidying up in the rest of the house or not...

I assume 100mm Gyproc type cove and there'd be a 3mm or so step in the ceiling when it's removed? It could be skimmed but I think you'd always notice where it has been patched. If it is only a 100mm strip then a couple of layers of Polyfilla would be as good, which you could do yourself and carefully sand back flush.

I did this a few months ago. Coving came off ok, and walls / ceiling were plastered ok behind the coving. Biggest issue was the step due to paint on the wall and ceiling. I used a dewalt multi tool with the sander attachment to smooth down, can that thing sand fast !

Filled a few holes / cracks with with Polycell Advanced Polyfilla and painted. Looks great.
