I own a House of Multiple Occupancy. Because of the introduction of the new £1 coin it seems I have to change all 5 electricity meters. Has anyone else had to do this and solved the problem at modest cost? I'd appreciate some input.

This set up has existed for 13 years. I only bought it last year.

I really need responses electricians or other HMO owners.
So far the only people who can do it have quoted £1,200.

After months of phone calls I finally found out that the electricity supliers will not change them, any electrician could. I then found out that not many want to do it, got some quotes and booked someone.

My partner advised me to start a thread here for a better solution/quote, so I started the thread in the lounge. He said this was not good enough and typed the original post including the title for me copy and post.

So here I am please help if you can.

Make sure whoever carries out the install is fitting the correct meters.

Info here - http://www.pjwmeters.com/information

So effectively a choice of two meters - http://www.pjwmeters.com/prepayment-coin-meters

Turns out the old meters take the new pound and the Euro - very strange.

Why don't you install a RFID prepayment meter....bit of cost up front but convenient for you...no more collections...less likely to be fiddled with and modern...
