Has anyone got any experience of this company?

http://www.imescosolar.com/

They have installed solar panels at my mother's house. My mother suffers from dementia. Leaving aside the mis-selling aspect, I now can't contact them at all to find out about the system, get an MCS certificate, etc.

Their phone line rings out (has done for the last week). Emails go unanswered.

Any ideas on other roots to contact them or any experience that I can use, please?

Not looking good I'm afraid. Checked the company name with MCS and no approved installer of that name found. Might be worth a call to them to see if they can suggest another local installer who can take over the certification and registration of your Mum's system You can't DIY the system, you have to have the MCS registration doc before you can register and claim your F.I.T. You do still owe them money don't you? You haven't paid it all up fornt?

I can find nothing in my mum's paper work. I guess she has paid them all the money (though to be fair, I haven't found a payment out of her account yet - but I don't have full Power of Attorney yet). I can't even see the panels from street level...

You could try contacting the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) www.microgenerationcertification.org , 0207 0901082 who I believe 'police' the micro generation industry. They have a complaints procedure outlined on their website.

The works would also need to be notified to the local building control department due to the electrical element of the installation.
There is a time limit between the work having been completed and the notification being sent by the contractor to their notifying body, most likely to be NAPIT or the NICEIC according to their web site.

Imesco claim to be MCS, FCA and RCC accredited so there should be someone who would listen to your complaint if they have done anything wrong.

You could ring NAPIT and ask if the company is MCS registered through them, they claim their registration number is NAP26294. NAPIT can be contacted on 0345 5430330.

I guess you have the company info:

https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/0959991...

Looks like they changed address recently. The last annual return would seem to give the Director's name and home address (public info, no stalking required!)

Mr Jamie Leonard Dell
34 Brookend Rd
Sidcup
Kent
DA15 8BE

Maybe write to him?

They claim to be registered with MCS through NAPIT, only they don't come back on a search on the NAPIT site.

I just spoke to MCS.

They were helpful. Imesco lost their accreditation in March. MCS can supply a duplicate MCS certificate, if I can provide evidence that my mother owns the system. As I can't find any paperwork (yet), that is going to be a challenge.

Imesco are still trading according to Companies House, so I maybe can approach them via a letter sent registered delivery. Then I guess it is CAB and Trading Standards.

That is much as I expected, TBH. My mum is the perfect prey for any shyster salesperson.

I found some Irish lads jet washing her drive last weekend. They were going to charge her £300 and take her to the bank to get the cash. Scum. Thankfully, they decided not to argue and shuffled off sharpish.

I now have triggered the POA and have taken her credit cards away.
