We have fitted wardrobes in our bedroom which are made of MDF with a cover layer over the top - the cover (perhaps laminate - not sure) is coming away from the MDF in several places and looks unsightly. And the cover is in a fake oak colour, so a bit old-fashioned.

Is it possible to remove this cover and paint the underlying MDF surface? I figure this would be a lot cheaper than re-fitting entirely new wardrobes just because of the outside of them. What could be used to remove them where they seem to be very strong bonded to the MDF?

Friends of ours have recently had their doors sprayed gloss white by their carpenter.

Similar process/finish to how you want paint car.

They look pretty good to be honest

Heat gun?

Wear a suitable mask and open windows incase of fumes. or take door off and take it outside. Alternatively would t be easier to just go down to the local wood place and get MDF (or other wood) of same thickness cut to same size?
