As we look towards cooler evenings, I'm looking to get a stove fan to hopefully circulate the heat from our Cast-tec Juno stove. It's only 5kw and the room isn't that big but there are 3 doors off it so has a potential to blow about a bit. It does tend to heat the other rooms gently but I'm sure a fan could push it out a bit better.

Any recommendations? It seems some are better than others (or is it snake oil??) So any thoughts welcome. I'll probably get a flue thermometer also just to give me an idea on how clean the burn is.

I thought they were a load of rubbish, had 2 stoves fitted at the new house and got a free fan and free care kit.

The fan is a cheap, no name, 4 blade thing - its amazing!
You cant feel a breeze but if you hold a piece of paper infront it will waft it slighlty. But you can definately feel the differnce in the room when its not on the top.
Very good at spreading the heat

A friend bought us one - and we were sceptical.

However, they are brilliant. Helps the heat circulate and makes a noticeable difference to getting heat into adjoining rooms.

ETA - this is what we have Valiant (FIR361) Premium IV 4-Blade Heat Powered Log Burner & Stove Fan, Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LEO7W7U/ref=cm_sw_r...

I think mine's a load of tosh, seems to do nothing at all but it just might not suit the room, very high ceilings and open plan through to the kitchen.
My ceiling fan's absolutely brilliant though.

Ours was brilliant and transformed how evenly the heat spread in our old home.

I have one too, very highly recommended. My stove is set back slightly in an original 1930s fireplace and it reduces a lot of the heat staying in the chimney recess. I cant remember the make but it was about £90 from a canal boat shop. I have no idea how they work though, somehow the difference in heat of the lower hotter bit and the top cooler bit generate power for the fan motor....why isnt this technology used elsewhere!!

I'm not too sure if it's any good. 1930's house but it doesn't push the heat out the front room into the other rooms and some times have to have the heating on as well.

They help to get the heat from the chimney part to the room, but will not any further. If you want to heat a house, get central heating. That's why it was invented smile

We have one and it is definitely worth while. I think it was a 30 or 40 quid one off amazon. Its got plenty of good reviews, so should be easy to find.

£15 less than when we bought it nearly four years ago.

It's brilliant.

Decent stove fans are brilliant.

I've got a Ecofan 812 AirMax Wood Stove FOR SALE as moving house within the next few months which doesn't have a log burner. Cost me £100 and bought in November 2015. Used only a dozen of times each winter when we wanted the log burner on to feel cosy.

Got original box as well. £70+£6 PP sound fair?
