So the local villages are being targeted at the moment and after reading some of the other current threads, I have been upping the security on the house, which is a 12 yr old detached. Access to the front from the road, only access down one side secured with a timber gate, no access to rear apart from through neighbours gardens.

The GRP garage door to the front (internal garage with access to hall) has been secured internally with key operated bolts and is alarmed.

Old composite Front door has both mortise and night latch. Alarm door contact.

Side gate is high. I am going to fit some sort of carpet gripper to deter climbing. Side door is timber, but with a large frosted glass window. Have again used key operated internal bolts to secure and is also locked we rarely use it. The glass is my concern and that is where the dog is when we are out. Cavalier, does not make a sound. Alarm door contact.

Rear has a window and a patio door. The patio door is fitter with a internal key operated bolt. I’m looking st removing the exterior handle as it’s just not needed.

Alarm is an old Eurosec CPX. Disco PIR’s in all downstairs rooms, and landing. Speech dialler to my mobile. It works, bell box cover is new from a local company who maintain. Was thinking of getting the wireless transmitter and 4 shockguards for the ground floor kitchen window and side door, rear lounge window and patio door.

In the process of installing a Hikvision IP CCTV kit with App access. Currently one camera round the back covering the rear elevation and garden. Next will be one down the side path, then finally the front. I’m just trying to work out the best external runs for the Cat6.

The only other thing, which is a basic, is PIR floodlights. Will need 3, front, side, rear. For the Cat 6 il most likely be using conduit tube. Which I can’t run mains in. Are there and battery operated versions available which are worth genuine consideration? They don’t need to be hugely powerful as there is reasonable LED street lighting to the front. Any other more cost effective recommendations for security would help too. Sounds silly, but it’s the dog we are mostly trying to protect.
