Building Survey

I have had an offer accepted on a two hundred year old house and want to have a survey done. I have googled building survey and there are a huge difference in what they charge and what they look at. In the past any property I was purchasing had the standard lender survey but this is the first I have purchased with no loan. What type of survey do I need?

Agreed. It may pay to call a surveyor or two and discuss the best option, but you want something in depth at that age.
