Our builder, who we've known a long time and trust, has recommended to coat interior walls with a fibreglass product before painting? Apparently this is very common on the continent. Possibly in Blackpool and Norfolk too.

Does anyone have experience of this as opposed to straight plaster and paint? Thanks!

Fibreglass product? The fibre reinforced lining paper stuff maybe?

In which case it's basically the same as using lining paper to achieve the surface finish, just stronger and more resistant to cracks coming through.

Never heard of it.

Is there an issue with your plaster that means it can't just be painted?

"fibreglass product" before painting - as used on the Continent - is effectively wallpaper!
