Recommend me a washing machine...

Some timing for a thread like this.
The senior laundry engineer is making complaints about a 6 year old Hoover machine.
My head is , erm, spinning.
Given that I own 2 Samsung TVs and a Samsung fridge, I'm not seeing any significant warning here or in reviews not to add to the Samsung stable at this stage.
Just a case of which one and who does this best deal now.....
Until I see Haier, nobody talks about them at all? They seem to achieve decent capacity from small depth footprint which is attractive.
For a brief period I had a Samsung w/m something similar to this model . . . The senior laundry engineer is making complaints about a 6 year old Hoover machine.

Oh & mine also had the AddWash feature as above which I found invaluable as I was always finding various bits to add to a wash. It was also very quiet. I'd recommend.

My cheapo 11 year old Zanussi just died so tomorrow sees the arrival of a Samsung ww90ta046ae ecobubble thing. 5 year warranty (20 for the motor) and free delivery direct from Samsung. There are thousands of reviews online for this model with a >90% recommend rate. Hopefully it'll do the job for another 10 or so years.

NOOOOO! You should get one with AddWash, admittedly £100 extra or so but well worth it . . .https://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-series-5-ww90t55...

When we bought our house 6+yrs ago the previous owner left the cheap BEKO washing machine and we've used it ever since with zero issues until last weekend when it snuffed it. No idea on its age.
I had my arm twisted by my parents and forked out nearly £500 for an 8kg Bosch. Their Bosch washing machine is circa 20yrs old and still like new. It turned up on Saturday. Basically it's too trick for its own good. Cycles take forever, it beeps all the time and its got a thing to prevent it spinning an unbalanced load (which is basically every time you do bedding or towels).
Took me hours to spin a load of bedding today that essentially meant me doing one sheet at a time and forming into a donut around the perimeter of the drum. IE not fit for purpose - I'm not sure if it's faulty or just over sensitive by design. I've called up the retailer and they've offered collection and an exchange/refund on price difference on an other machine.
I want something that's basic, sub £500 and just works. Depth is a bit of a concern as we have a 50mm waste pipe at the back so really 580mm depth is probably the limit. I don't want smart tech blah blah.
In an ideal world I'd have 3x sequential mechanical timers. One for soak, one for wash, one for spin. With two dials to set temp and spin speed. Why they've all gone to touch screen, billions of sensors, wifi etc is bonkers.
Why are there so many to choose from?!
Not read all the answers on here but isn't their a sequance you can tun to put the machine in balance??? I had my arm twisted by my parents and forked out nearly £500 for an 8kg Bosch. I have a Samsung, works just fine, only use two settings eco and quick wash oh and the timer so next one will probably be a cheap one.
I guess it depends how often you run it, if you use it a lot you need to look up the running costs.

Update from me.
Argos came and collected the Bosch today and issued a refund.
Last night I went with a pal to collect the NOS Miele that was for sale locally. Turns out it was in a display kitchen of a showroom and then put into storage, hence new but old.
It's a smidge over 100kg and built like a bank vault. Spins at 1600 and it nearly silent. From what I can make out the model came out in about 2007 but can't find when it was made until. It's model number is W3922.
The longest was cycle is less than 2hrs.
So far very happy. Yes, it did cost more than a BN Bosch (500 Vs 430), but I'm very pleased so far as it just works.

Update: Impressed! Very quiet, eerily so in fact. Actual washing is all but silent apart from the water sloshing around; full-chat spin is subdued. Good range of programs which are easily modified and work well. Looks pretty good too in a Stormtrooper-chic kinda way. Happy days. Excellent choice - did you run the calibration?

Should have got AddWash . . .

British make.
No way, German is bestNot all Bosch Neff, Siemens stuff is German made.
Anyhow, Germany does not have a monopoly on quality. It does seem to have an efficient PR machine though !!
Ask Ford Motor Company & Ford owners what they think of the diesel injectors supplied by a major German company..........
Another vote for EBAC, the British one.
Has anyone got an Ebac?
"The only washing machine Made in Britain, complete with an industry leading 7 year parts and labour warranty. Ebac washing machines promise total care and protection for the best wash possible."
Appears to have good features list and promising reviews but I've not seen or heard about them in the real world much.

Just bought an Ebac machine after reading about them on here.
Very impressed - whisper quiet, British made, great warranty and support (although we've not had to use either yet)
Just found this via the site search, they are obviously about, just not in very high numbers yet.Very impressed - whisper quiet, British made, great warranty and support (although we've not had to use either yet)
Must say, from what (little) I've seen I'm tempted.

I thought Hotpoint/Whirlpool were made in the UK too (just that the factory was not owned by a UK firm)?"The only washing machine Made in Britain, complete with an industry leading 7 year parts and labour warranty. Ebac washing machines promise total care and protection for the best wash possible."

I think Hotpoint/Indesit driers are still made in the UK, but the Washing Machine factory in north Wales closed 10-15 years ago when they also closed the Fridge/Freezer factory down South.I've read lots of reviews of the EBAC.
Lots of people saying the warranty is excellent and they've been out to repair and fix any problems, excellent service etc... Trouble is, that looks like rather a lot!
I have no direct experience, but it feels like it may be similar to a JLR product. Fantastic when working, excellent service, but needs lots of warranty!
If there's so many warranty claims, don't get market traction etc, you've got to even wonder if they'll be around in 7yrs!
