I really liked the Homes, Gardens and DIY forum. In its short life it was my first target.

'Property & Finance' is completely different, and more suited to the Business forum I'd suggest.

'Homes, Gardens and DIY' would still fit the bill. Whilst I agree that mortgages are indeed about Property & Finance, in that they finance properties, it just seems so hard and cold and business-like, compared to those nice pictures of sheds you get in Argos catalogues and the too-green artificial grass laid under the immaculate garden tools that herald the summer that deep down you know will never arrive...

But then where do other personal finance threads go? They don't belong in the (newly conglomerated) News, Politics and Economics forum and they're often linked to people's mortgages. It does make the Homes forum less cuddly though.

Right, that's it. I'm going to have to be John Cleese. Personal finance? Did you hear that everyone? He wants 'Personal Finance' now. My god, is there no satisfying you? Look, it's perfectly simple. If it doesn't fit in any other forum, then it goes in The Lounge. De facto, ergo and QED. All we want here is lush green grass and nice homely questions like 'How do I repair scratches in oak furniture'. (bangs head on counter)
