I've often wondered this. So you call a locksmith out and claim you've lost your keys. Does he just break in for you then bugger off, leaving you to rob a house that may not be yours?

Hi, Finally got in my house at 8.15pm!! after the locksmith drilling the back door lock, trying to open the front door and eventually going to fetch ladders as the bathroom window looked slightlu ajar.

We then had to unscrew the top opener on the window out of the frame to get in.
Was hilarious! wish I had videod it.

He then changed the barrel on the back door. The front door lock is knackered so will need a new one
charged me £67. Top guy!

The cat luckily didnt "park its breakfast" on my new rug and the mrs went round her mates till it was fixed so no nagging!!

It does pose the question though I never showed him any ID or anything I could of been anyone.
Although I suppose if you wait around 4 hours to get in someone else's house you probably deserve whats inside.

Alls well that ends well.

Superglue? Does he have enemies.... Or 2 good locks and one worn key which should operate both...

Hmm when you out it like that, but he was there for nearly 3 hours did open the front door and make it work for the time being, and replaced the cylinder in the back door which he couldnt drill out
thats the way I look at it.

The back door wouldnt open because it was locked with the key in the door, so using the key from the outside wouldnt work.

Lesson learned dont leave keys in the door.

Surely that could be seen as an added security measure.....

Personally I always leave the keys in the back door of the house - if there is a fire I want to know that my family wont be choking to death arguing about where the keys have been placed this time. They would get misplaced daily. I'd far rather have to pay a few quid for a broken window if needs be! Once the extension is finished I may take the one out the side door to add an alternative route but not everyone has that option.

You think thats expensive, called a gas fitter to put one flexible hose on the back of my new cooker, which will take all of 5 mins, wanted £90 yikes

And they wonder why people take a chance. Lets face it, put a bit of PTFE tape on the threads, screw it in, connect up gas, get squeeze bottle of soap stuff, and check for leaks, thats what the last CORGI regisgterd guy did.

smile

P.S. Just checked with British Gas, they want £108............ thieving barstewards.

the latch in the middle had locked because the spring had broke. Had to take it off to open the door.
