Also, the sales guy that I've been dealing with got the price very close to another quote I had but their system seems far superior.

Has anyone fitted Schuco bifolds and got any opinions of their system. http://www.schueco.com/web/uk/architekten/fenster_...

Looks like I'm just about to pull the trigger on a 2.5m X 2.5m three section folding sliding door through express in Redhill

http://www.expressbifoldingdoors.co.uk/xp-10.html

They've seemed competent enough at various shows I've been to this year and the product seemed robust enough for our light residential use. They're also local enough that I feel I can maintain a decent relationship with them (touch wood). It's also over a grand cheaper than IDSystem's offering - which is significant.

Anyone have anything to add?

we are just about to pull the trigger on a glazing contract and bi-fold on another development, and am impressed so far. Especially the 10 year warranty.

I did pull the trigger on a four panel bifold door from Express a few weeks ago and am very happy with the quality and smoothness of opening (although our building works are still in progress, 1 week to go!) so am yet to use them on a daily/regular basis but they feel rock solid

I love mine - not used them regularly but they are very simple to operate and the alu frames really are slim. I took a punt on them not having seen any apart from on their videos and i couldn't be happier with them

We went with Express and had them installed as part of a wider, but quite un-PH renovation project. They were very efficient in the early and survey stages, I can't really comment on the day of the installation as I was absent but my builder whose opinion I trust said they were quick, efficient, professional and clean. They contacted me after the event to make sure I was happy. Building regs certificate came through in January. All good.

The only "problem" I have is that I've opened them twice since they were installed so I can't give much of an opinion on living with them on a day to day basis. They seemed well engineered but let's be honest I can't really tell much yet. They look nice and keep the wind and the rain out is about all I can say since the install really.

They were dearer than some providers, less than others, but a combination of many factors including their relatively local showroom meant I was happy to choose them and I don't yet regret it.

Best of luck with what you choose to do.

I have the Schuco slim profile doors and they are very good. Been fitted two years and had an issue with the inner seals shrinking, express came out and refitted all FOC plus replaced a blind control which I broke for free too.

Good service although strong price. Internal blinds are brilliant too. no cleaning, no curtains to get in the way and good heat control.

I am reading this thread with interest as I'm extending my house in Tooting and want 3 metre bi-folds in aluminium. I have no previous experience of these, so it's a learning curve. I have mailed some of the companies on this thread for prices, but found this company that advertise on Ebay :

http://www.archiglass.co.uk/bi-fold-doors/

They are happy for me to visit their factory in Tipton, and the price comes out at about £2200 for 3 metres. Foldingslidingdoors were a grand more, but are highly recommended on this thread for value.

All thoughts gratefully received!

Also about to buy 3 or 3.3m bifolds- we should club together and negotiate as I'm not too far from you!

Advice I have been given by architect is to not cut corners in this area but either go for a German brand or a decent uk one. So far looked online at Express bifolds and ID systems.

Just waiting to decide on a height as would like to go 220 or 230 rather than the normal 210 height. I will be going to this show probably to take a look at a few companies: Free tickets

p.s. if you are happy with your builder could you ping me his details as I am currently getting quotes.

It came down to two for us, Sunfold or ID systems.

Now 6 years in, the choice was a good one - no rattles, squeaks, or problems at all and they're opened a lot during the summer smile

We're just inside SM as opposed to KT but if you're interested in a builder I can offer you mine. Truly excellent and while his quotes weren't the cheapest we received he was head and shoulders above the alternatives and we'd recommend him highly. Let me know.

6 months in with our Express doors and while I accept it's early days I'm very pleased. They're not the cheapest by any stretch but I am happy with the price/quality balance. I checked out quite a few companies at various Ideal Home/Grand Designs Show type things. They have a factory/showroom in Redhill.

Thanks Yazar, I will let you know what my builder is like after the build! I have used him for lots of small jobs so fingers crossed. I will go and have a look at the Archiglass windows at their factory in Tipton and let you know what I think. They are 2400 high as standard which fits with mu plans. Keep me posted on what you find at that show.
