Fair bit of that going on in this section of the forum...

Has anyone got pillar less corner bi folds like this

If so any recommendations?
Not got corner bifolds, but have a house with planning permission for them. The "trick" to them is nothing to do with the doors but the steel work that is needed to support the roof. PHer campreddie is the architect who designed the extension for us, did all the drawings and got us through planning. We're using his services again just now for a project in the new house. Top chap. Highly recommended.

they are both the same company, complete jokers I have been chasing them for years and they still have not finished the job. I may as well have set fire to the £9 000 to ££10 0000 I spent with them.

Great thread guys....

Resurrection time smile

Been reading with interest the opinions posted so far and there doesn't appear to be a huge selection of companies used on here.

I'm based in the Midlands thus wandering if those recommended so far on here travel country wide to supply & install.

Since before the work on my extension commenced I've been researching bifold companies to get an idea of prices, reputation, quality etc.
Now the pad is in, the walls will be built soon and I'm looking to purchase in the next couple of months I hope.

I attended the grand designs show at the NEC in October 14 and viewed the various companies available and their products.

Now given the costs/expenditure of any extension I'm trying to save money where I can but not by false economy of sorts.

I have come across one company name (Vufold) several times and viewed their range at Grand Designs and was impressed with the product.
They also seem to have a good customer online rating for what it's worth.

I'm looking at an opening if 4.8m total with height no greater than 2.1m.

So far I've had quotes varying from £5k - near £11k! (That was for a Composite) including a quote from IDS.

The company in question have a range I am very interested in as they are aluminum framed, coated outside to match existing upvc windows and interior is wooden clad which appeal to me.

The estimate for my size is approx £6k but they don't fit, it's supply only!
Also they offer 0%finance which appeals to allow finances to be used for other work to be completed.

I not totally against supply only as I'm not to bad at handy work but it's peace of mind when suppliers for their own products as it falls to them if their are any installation issues either product or any issues at all with it should they try point the finger at a later date.

Has anyone any recent updates on their supplier, installation experience better still if their bifold doors are of the composite nature too

Cheers

Gary

Ours had a 3 month lead time and the company would only honour the 10 year warranty if they installed. 5 1/2 years in I would still recommend them, they work and look as good as the day they were fitted.

I'm in no hurry, extension is only being worked on whilst I'm there and I'm only there 8-15 days per month so lead time is not an issue for me.

Anyone bought these doors from Wicks or any opinion on them or the price? I like the wood inside and metal outside look.

Contacted origin earlier funnily enough, just to request a quote. Why did you not just go direct?

Never even considered Wickes but having looked at their range as provided in your post, they offer virtually the exact same product as the company I mentioned, size and within a couple of hundred quid of the price too, alas but no 0% offer

We got ours from Vufold. Weren't the easiest to fit so my builder says but he was impressed with the build quality and finish.

Thanks - very interesting about the price. You could always stick in on a 0% finance credit card !

Our initial contact was for roof lanterns - http://www.visionrooflights.co.uk. When we got chatting, found out they did both. Seemed easier to use them, they were the best part of 2k cheaper on the bifold than our builder quoted as part of the extension works.

I used Slide and Fold - they are based in Coventry - I went for their trade range - off the shelf as they were both cheap and available within 7 days. IIRC I paid £2k for a 2.4 wide set of 3 doors.

I fitted them myself - they were very simple.

18 months on no issues with the product itself although I do have condensation on the aluminium in winter, despite it being thermally broken - probably due to my wife cooking without using the extractor though.

Similar dimensions to mine - drop me a pm with an email address and I'll send you some photos if you want?

Mine were 4.3 by 2.2 high - four panel and the suppliers also offer to fit too (although fitting is not cheap!)

I can supply aluminium doors and windows at great prices

Both ALUK and smart systems.

Just send me a pm with what you are looking for and your location and I will get you a price.

I personally think the aluk stuff is better than the smart systems, but it's a little more expensive.

I am currently looking at options for my extension for a 6m set of sliding doors.

Does anyone have any experience of Grabex? I'm looking at their Raynaers range of doors.

Thanks,

JJM
