Which pressure washer?

I think this is the right place for this..

I would like to buy a 'karcher' type pressure washer.

Basically I want something reliable and 'good'(!). i only really need a 'squirty-lance thing' (oo-er) and ideally one of those circular patio cleaning things.

I don;t want car washing brushes or anything else that'll just not get used ideally it'll just be something that squirts pressurised water at my car and my patio and doesn't overheat or generally break.

budget £50-£100.

okay a fair bit over budget but this, unfortunately halfrauds branded one looks to have a lot of spec for the money..(??!!):

there are a few with 1500-1700 motors for c£80 around.
what sort of spec is 'good'?

my old one was inherited and free!

Nilfisk C-120, available at reasonable money from Screwfix. I bought mine from Amazon as they were the cheapest, and it came with a big accessory bundle. I had a Karcher K291 before and the Nilfisk seems better built.

Screwfix had them on special offer recently, not sure if they still do.

Avoid Karcher.

i have never heard of this manufecturer so thanks all.

i know i sound like i am labouring the point but does anyone have a view on those halfrauds ones?

I got a 'free' Karcher washer when we changed car insurance to Tesco. It came with two lances and a round patio cleaner.

Recently got round to cleaning some paths. Started with the patio cleaner, which was OKish. Tried the lance which generates a circular pattern spray, which was much better at cleaning the dirt off (a lot of splash back so I got spotty).

Well worth what I paid

I bought a Hoselock washer from B&Q a few weeks ago. It was £50 with the patio cleaner so seemed cheap. The Karcher options were at least twice as expensive so for a bit of use around the house it seemed okay. I've since used it at every opportunity and think it was decent value. Lets see how long it lasts!

Do a lot of commercial-grade cleaning kit. It's a good brand in the non-domestic world.

Don't know anything about the Halfords stuff.

Nilfisk, without doubt.
Avoid karcher(plastic pump).
Nilfisk C110.3-5 PC X-tra 1400W in argos £63.99(£59.99 screwfix I think) even comes with a patio cleaner, absolute bargain cracking machine oh and has a metal pump.
As said above alot of the pro detailers use Nilfisk and thay are using them everyday.
I bought a Nilfisk C110(£59.99) about a month ago and it out performs my old £200 karcher with it's eyes shut.

Not all karchers are plastic pump (although they will be in this price range) btw.

so it wouldn;t be worth me buying a dearer nilfisk just the £60 one?

basically just need wash a BINI and a megane estate and need to do my (fairly large) block paved patio every so often).

i think i am sold on nilfisk. i had been wondering about the bigger c£120 one..?

i have the cheapest of the cheap halfrauds one.

works fine and hasnt died yet after 15 months.

Lots of Karcher bashing above. I have had a Karcher for about 15 years now and it's never missed a beat. Fitted an extra long hose and I never have to take it out the garage!

The problem is Karcher made a cheap machine with plastic pump for the DIY outlets,hurt their rep big time.
Karcher do make some good machines but at the top end of the market.

I've had a Karcher for the last 5 years, cost around £70. Still runs perfectly well and used weekly.
